Our Philosophy
At Maple Lawn Preschool, we strive to nurture your children by providing opportunities to strengthen their self-esteem, as well as develop positive interactions with children of different abilities, ages and social-economic backgrounds. By taking part in our preschool program, your children will gain the skills necessary to prepare them as active participants in life-long learning.
Creative and constructive learning activities nourish children’s imaginations and physical well-being, while fostering social harmony and stimulating healthy play. Our curriculum is storybook based and helps to enhance your child’s learning. Circle time, story telling, and creative play develop listening skills, memory, and strengthen the imagination. Songs, finger plays, and stories cultivate an appreciation for language. Counting games and rhythmic activities provide a foundation for mathematics. Coloring, painting, cutting with scissors, and finger play develop fine motor skills. Large motor skills are developed through indoor and outdoor play, as well as group activities.
Garden Classes
For children age 3 through pre-kindergarten, we have four classes available. The Garden classes meet for 21/2 hours two or three times per week. These classes are larger in size (up to 18 children supervised by 2 or 3 adults).
Garden Classes offer a story-book based curriculum which allows a child to learn through multiple exposures to the same concepts. Activities encompass language, social skills, physical development and the development of independence. Children learn group skills that promote team work, problem solving, and social interactions. Garden classes teach conflict resolution through constructive means.
Garden Classes also focus on establishing routines and making transitions in order to prepare children for life-long learning. Additionally, students are actively involved in cooking activities and snack preparation. Rose classes meet 3 days per week and offer more time for in-depth activities and concept exploration.
