Healthy Albany Partnership is a coalition of agencies, organizations, and businesses in the Albany area working to promote physical activity and good nutrition.

FALL OUTDOOR RECREATION
Get out and enjoy the scenery! Albany Parks & Recreation has a wide variety of outdoor adventures during the fall. Whether you learn to paddle a canoe or kayak or take a hike. For more information see page 16 or pages 19-21.

ALBANY FITWALKERS

Heart Health Education and Support Group
This group meets every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10am on the first or second floor of the Elm Professional Building on the corner of Elm and 7th. Each week, presentations and discussions are held to help people learn more about how to prevent heart attacks and have a healthier heart. These classes are free to anyone interested. They are part of the SAGH Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program.
 
Cardiovascular Health and Prevention Program

This is an exercise and education program for people without a recently diagnosed or symptomatic heart or lung condition, but perhaps a history of heart disease or lung problems or for those with risk factors for heart disease. The program is held at various times throughout the day from 6:30am to 6pm.

WEIGHT REDUCTION CLASS
This class will offer education and support to make healthy food, activity, and behavior changes. The format of the class is a combination of topic presentation and open discussion. Instructors are a registered dietitian, medical social worker, and exercise specialist. The class will meet for one hour for six consecutive weeks followed by two "booster" sessions. Cost is $100. Individual nutrition counseling by a registered dietician is also available. Call 812-4072 for dates, times, and more information.

DIABETES EDUCATION AND SUPPORT GROUP
The third Tuesday of the month the Diabetes Support Group will meet from 6:30-7:30pm on the fourth floor of Samaritan Albany General Hospital. There will be a presentation and discussion on how to control your diabetes and maintain your health. For more information, please call 812-4848.

CHRONIC DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
Sick and tired of being sick and tired? The Chronic Disease Self Management Program is for people with ongoing health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, emphysema, heart conditions, high blood pressure, and MS. In the free six-week class, you will learn medication “how-to’s”, dealing with negative emotions, tips for managing your symptoms, tips for eating well, and personal goal setting. SAMARITAN ALBANY CANCER RESOURCE CENTER
The Samaritan Albany Cancer Resource Center is offering several educational classes for cancer patients, caregivers, and their family members. All classes will be held at the Cancer Resource Center at 400 Hickory St. NW unless otherwise noted. Classes include topics ranging from Managing the Stress of Survivorship and Yoga to Nature’s Remedies and Dental Health during Cancer Treatments. BUILD LEBANON TRAILS
Build Lebanon Trails (BLT) is a community-driven effort to create and develop over 50 miles of interconnected fully ADA-accessible trails in the Lebanon area. Hikes are scheduled each month and start promptly at 10am. BLT community meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Lebanon Senior Center at 65 B Academy Street in Lebanon.
