The Magic Teakettle
March 14
In the Morinji temple in ancient Japan, a monk cleans up an old teakettle and places it on the fire when suddenly it sprouts a tail, a head and four legs of a Tanuki (a racoon like animal). Frightened by the strange transformation he sells the teakettle to a poor junk woman. She discovers it is a teakettle of good luck. Together they create a theatre where the “Magic Teakettle of Good Luck” entertains and delights audiences with tricks and the Cherry Blossom Dance.
